Sedo's GreatDomains auction ended almost a week ago; the results were shared with me today.

Top sale was VUHI.com which was sold for 4,900 GBP or about $6,460 dollars.

Overall, it was an underwhelming auction, perhaps due to the high reserves of the domains involved and being at the end of the summer.

Are you ready for September?

Νo other explanation, they put such high reserves not because they think they will sell their domains at such high auction prices but because they want to promote their domains. It's a free advertisement to get more future offers, these prices are not auction prices.

Talking about underwhelming auctions, did anyone publish the results of Sedo's .co auction in July? I forgot about it.

Good point! Why didn't I think of this before? 🤔

The thing is that some of those domains in the auction had a reserve of 50,000 - 99,999 and the highest bid was 500something dollars...

People see the reserves and they don't bother bidding. Say you would have spent 25,000 on one of those domains. What's the point of bidding? You won't get it.

Also, unless you're a domain investor (that won't pay retail price anyways) or a small business with the cash on hand, larger deals require negotiation and time to get the funds approved.
