Is it worth adding domains to the Featured Domains in sedo? I was thinking of adding video.hn to the list and another domain to it.

What do you think?

haven't used 1 yet but I would think the extra exposure would help especially if posting good names, maybe someone can post if they have had good results with it as I don't have first hand experience with featured option.

That's one reason i want to do it. I just saw one sedo site where someone list all of his domain in the description of the webpage to let people know about his other domains.

look at previous sales at sedo and you may scratch your head on a few, thinking why would someone pay that much for that, so there are definitely buyers at sedo and with 3 million domains listed I think any extra exposure should help find the right buyer if posting decent names, never used it so I can't confirm it works but should definitely help pull you out of the crowd of 3 million, good luck if you decide to give it a go, let us know how it does :)

maybe just test your best 1 and see how it does, then if it works or you at least get some offers then try the rest, that way you don't spend a bunch of money until you see it works.

I think video.hn the best one to post since its overture for febuary was 1,200,000 for "video" only not to mention other keywords and phrases "music video" was 800,000

cool, be sure to update this thread on the results with whatever name you decide to do this on, I almost did it with like 5 domains last year so I am curious to see how the featured section works for you.

I hope you read and understand exactly what Sedo is "offering" with the "Featured" listing and understand that being "Featured" does NOT means that your domain will appear non-stop on their homepage for some reasonable length of time. Guess again, 'cause if you blink, you might miss it!

When you order a Featured Listing for $39 your domain listing will rotate between the Sedo homepage and featured listings page for 30 days. Thirteen randomly selected Featured Listing domains are displayed on the Sedo homepage each hour while the remaining domains are displayed on the Featured Listings page.
I'm no mathemetician but the chances of your domain appearing for any length of time, or at the "right moment" for a potential buyer specifically interested in your domain name seem pretty slim. The more domain names that are listed as "Featured", the fewer opportunities your domain has of appearing on the home page.

And the special "Featured" page is just a complete random listing of domain names so it's no better than a regular listing page - except that ALL the "Featured" domains are shown on a single page (whether it's 100 or 1000 I'm guessing...).

(* Note - All the above is based upon numerous threads I have read on this topic and NOT from personal experience. And I do have a definite opinion on this topic in case it wasn't obvious.)

I still think that any extra exposure in a sea of 3 million helps and I gotta think people will look at a featured page whether it has 100 or 1,000 on it. If you decide not to do this based on the terms TestCase highlighted I will probably test one of my own in a week or so and will report the results, I gotta figure which one is the best to try out first, I have wanted to try it anyway so whether you do it or I do it at least some kind of results or feedback will be seen.

I am not sure I see the value of the extra service.
If I am looking for a domain, say based on the keyword 'video', I will search on sedo and see what is up for sale.
I have yet to see a posting from an nper who regularly uses the service......so, hands up anyone?

you may be completely right, but $39 to test 1 is okay with me, and if it doesn't bring in more offers or a ton of page views to the offer page then I'll come back here and say "yeah not worth it" :) any feedback from recent users of featured listings is appreciated as well.

At this moment there are 402 dn's listed on the Featured page.

There are 13 Featured dn's listed on the home page every hour for 1 hour.
13 domains/hr x 24 hrs/day = 312 MAXIMUM dn's/day could be displayed each day IF NO domains are repeated. This would also mean that 90 dn's would get no exposure at all each day.

Unless my math/logic is wrong (and very well could be...), those are miserable odds especially when you consider the names are shown at random so some domains could be displayed multiple times during the course of a day and others wouldn't come up at all. Essentially there is no guarantee a specific dn will ever even be displayed on the homepage.

Good luck in your attempt....

I recently, tried Sedo's new featured listing whereby you pay $69 to be featured on all five sites. I sold two domains from listing one domain because the second domain was listed in the remarks. I cannot reveal the names of the domains yet in this package deal because the deal is not complete yet, buyer is escowing funds.

Prior to this, about 6 months back I listed a domain and it also received an offer that I regected.

IMO, it works. It will especially work if you have a good domain. You have to weigh the value of the domain to the cost to advertise. I knew I had a XXXX domain in my hands so it was worth it to me.

Good luck with your name.

Based on the names in your sig I'm sure they were VERY good names.

Glad to hear someone say it worked for them.

Congrats to you SKG!

Nice SKG, i have been thinking of trying the featured listing on Sedo for one of my domains. Been listing on afternic for a bit with no luck, probably going to move my efforts over into Sedo. Trying Sedo escrow service as we speak for the first time as i sold one of my domains last week. We'll see how it goes.

Also, I will add, that even if your domain does not sell by being a featured listing, you will have increased the number of visits to your listing. The more visits you have the higher up on the search you will stand when people are searching for names at Sedo. Same goes if you have offers. So even after your featured listing expires, you still get residual affects.

That is nice! I didn't know that! Thanks.
