I am really surprised that Sedo isn't doing the basic things right. I am trying to cancel a bid for my domain name, not in the auction yet. And this is the error message I get.

Please note:
Unfortunately your entry contained errors.
You must first enter your asking price before you can cancel the negotiations!

Why in the world would I enter an asking price again to cancel the offer ? I spoke to another person who was faced with the same and he too was confused.

What should I do to cancel this offer?

Any help with step by step instructions!

Yeah, I encountered the same thing, still getting emails as well .
Maybe untick for sale on account management page works.
sick of the emails with stupid offers from scalpers and waisting time with counter offers.

How do I do that ? Does it really work that way ?

If I counter offer and the buyer doesn't want it, will it result in cancellation of the offer ?
with counter offers.

yeah, silly is'nt it - I think you should be able to cancell it with just a simple reply - Sorry, you offer to too low. I think this would encourage more than the usual $100 to $200 start off bids (ie: they just offer that to find out how much you are asking for it)

If you put in a price and they accept it then you would have to sell it at that price.

I think the only way to get the offer cancelled "without" naming your price is to just ignore the offer - eventually they will cancell it but they will send reminder emails for a while.

I think it is the bug because I have the same problem

This is really unprofessional of SEDO.

I think if it's like this competitors will be looking at this and will say that here is our chance to beat them so they don't ever come up.

well, hang on a sec, so you have your name on sedo, to sell it I presume..
You get an offer, obviously below your expectations for the domain.

Why on earth would you want to cancel the negotiations without at least telling the buyer what your price expectations for the domain are, and giving them the opportunity to counter on your offer?

Not everyone knows the domain market well, I have made some good end user sales out of initially lowball offers.

Based on this comment I added an asking price in the domain management option and tried cancelling it, but still didn't work.

Well I am checking this out in the offer's received option. It shows this.

Date: Bidding: Offer:

03/31/07 Your Desired Price: Make Offer

Should I do something here, this is the above the bids I received[BID Thread].

Very Good Question ! :)

The reason is simple, I want it to end on Sunday evening. I got the offer on Saturday, which is why I didn't send it to the auction yet.

It's not a bug - If you read the email that sedo sends you when notifying you that someone has made an offer on your name it now tells you in it. I can't remember what its says exactly as I don't keep them.

Can you take a look at sedo's email and post it here ?

Please note, that you will receive reminder mails about this offer, until you respond and you will need to submit at least one counter before you can cancel the negotiations. This process was designed to ensure a communicative and successful market place.

Mc, here is the screenshot.

I did a counter offer and the party hasn't rejected or accepted. I presume I should wait till this offer expires and do it all over again[all these days are a loss].

Can you take a look at sedo's email and post it here ?
