Second Design Ever (Forum Skin, 2 Versions)

Alright, This is my second design ever, decided to have some fun, and get a challenge, I know its not that good, but give me some pointers, and what not on what you would change!

Version One


Which do you like better, and how would you rate this for a second design ever?

And out a curiosity, do you think its worth anything?

the fonts need work and text size are outrageously huge. My 2nd design didnt look like a desogn though.lol. Your doing good

What fonts are bad (All of them, or just NAV, or what?)

And what size would you recommend me using for each thing?

Both designs have extremely distorted fonts. (Browser: Firefox 2.0)

The main difference being the backdrop color, does not mean anything as long as you don't have a topic. In terms of targeting a user group that you want to approach, you may have the wrong color for your topic. Example: if you're preparing to make a wrestling forum, either one of your skins is not going to be a match. Where i'm going with this; find your topic and base the development on the target group you're "talking" to. Certain visuals for certain topics.

Again, Im never good with fonts, I aswell use FF2.0, What fonts would you suggest I change to? Most is Tahoma, 14-18PX.
