Ask the search engine how much the bid is on "scotland".
Most one word keywords are bid on/ pay per click. Keyword bidding means that you can bid on terms which surfers use when they search so that your site can be shown above the competition
It may be cheap, but then you don't really need high school kids looking to do a homework assignment to come to your site.
It would be better to target the keyword phrases that people use to find your type business. Do you know what they are? Why not?:
What is your first choice of customer - people looking for a hotel....?
Build sections for each.
What is your target audience? Americans, europeons, etc?
What do the statistics show are the most search for term in that category?
Read some demographics - know who to traget, what they're looking for
(one small example -

Lets examine your site:
#1. Take the stupid page right click protector out of it (I didn't have to hack it to get the contents, no one else does - That damn pop up java crap is only going to piss off customers)
#2 I'm sure your site is confusing the hell out of the search engines by having "all" the hidden links in the page. They think you're lying about what your site offers:
Did you do this on purpose?
Example:
href="http://www.harperandcroft.co.uk/">full
colour printing</A> - <A
href="http://www.spiritlighthome.com/SpiritWorks.html">*</A> - <A
href="http://toraor.50free.net/">Reiki</A> - <A
href="http://www.home-business-funding.net/Personal-Success.html">Home Business
Opportunity</A>
Remove all that stuff, it's got nothing to do with hotels, motels, b&b's, etc.
There are three separate areas that have them hidden in the Z-index.
#3 How long do visitors stay when they do come? Under 20 seconds I bet.
Tell them what your selling on your home page and every other page you have. Scotland Book what direct? Opera tickets.
#4 Develop a page or even better pages for each category, and develop separate keyword phrases for each. (stats show people tend to type phrases when searching more than keywords).
What keyword phrases do the type for your business?
If you want traffic you'll do the research.
