I own the name Scroogey.com and am thinking of developing the name into an Australian Online Classifieds website ... do you think the name would be suitable?

No definitely not.
I think that the first syllable of that word: Scroo
gives off very negative connotations.
Scroo is the same sound of Screw.
Everyone knows Screw is negative when dealing w/ money.

I'm sorry, that name does not seem suitable for an online classified site.

the only thing I can think of w/that name would be kindof a silly site.
Scrooge was a popular Character in an American Christmas Movie.
"A Christmas Carol"
He was a stingy old man, who was tight w/his $,
then saw the light, and changed into a very thoughtful/Giving man.
But we (Americans) think of Scrooge as a Dirtball.

Thanks, I kinda like scroogey, its a different word, kinda like google and easy to remember, a bit relevant for saving money also on goods etc ... more advice appreciated, thanks to all so far.
