Hi guys,
I want to get a new phone this week and I want to buy a 8gb microsd card for it.
As I did a search
I got confused by sdhc and ultra sdhc!
I was wondering which one performs best?
I know that ultra performs faster but does it really worth the extra fees?
I wanted to know should I buy an sdhc card or should I go for the about $9 more expensive ultra one?

Thanks:)

No it's not worth it to get the ultra card. It would only be worth it if you were using a digital camera and shooting at high speeds.

Secure Digital (SD) memory card format is developed by Matsushita, SanDisk, and Toshiba for use in portable devices. Today it is widely used in digital cameras, handheld computers, PDAs, mobile phones, GPS receivers, and video game consoles. Standard SD card capacities range from 8 MB to 4 GB and for high capacity SDHC cards 4 GB to 32 GB as of 2008.

The format is very popular. However, a change in the format, while allowing capacities greater than 4 GB (SDHC), has created compatibility issues with older card readers, which cannot read the new format.

Since SDHC format cards have the same physical shape and form factor as the older format, this has caused considerable confusion for consumers. SDHC cards require an SDHC capable device firmware, generally not found with older devices.

I recently bought a 4Gb SDHC memory card for my Digital camera, but the card reader in my desktop PC couldn't read the SDHC memory card. I had to buy a new card reader that was SDHC compatible.

So if your card reader is more than a few years old, it will not likely be able to read the SDHC cards.

Bill, thank you for the reply.
The thing that makes me confused is that both ultra and the sdhc cards have the same speed of 4mbps! So whats the difference?
Gilson, The important thing for me is that the memory not reduce my phone speed. I really dont want to use a card reader for it.

You'll notice that each company has a name for their own speed technology.
