I just got a reply from the real owner (James) and he stated:

We didn't put it up at sedo. Please contact sedo about the fraud. Thank you.

I forwarded the email to Sedo and also asked James to contact Sedo directly.

Saw it earlier too and thought it must be a fake - $500 starting price, no reserve and a poorly written description.. Thought Sedo were pretty good at checking ownership, maybe not..

This puts an entirely new spin on Sedo's statement "Verifying Domain Ownership" when adding a domain for sale....

Makes me wonder how many domains have been sold without truly verifying ownership and how much money has changed hands being held by Sedo before refunded.... In the meantime, I'm relatively certain, Sedo is skimming the interest from the top of the funds that are being held in "escrow"...

Just my negative impression though,...

What if the real owner waits till this auction end and if he is satisfied about the winning bid , he will contact Sedo and verify his ownership and go on with the sale..

I seem to remember about 6 months ago it was pretty difficult to get a domain verified (e.g. either parking it at sedo or emailing them from the admin email address). Now, two days ago, I added a typo of of one of my domains only to find it had been added to my account!

I contacted them after I read this post and got an email this morning that is was not the domain owner selling it.

Glad to hear Sedo finally ended the auction! I think this would be a good write up for the Domain News sites. Bad PR for Sedo, might get something done about the way they verify domains for sale! My guess, the next to go up will be sex.com with a $500 reserve. :lol:
