I would use RSS... you could write stories about stories that have already been posted. You could also try to get a feed from the Associated Press (
http://ap.org) which uses NNTP protocol.
If you choose RSS you can use feeds from multiple different websites, and some even have query searches, so you get a feed of results that relate to the query in the feed URL... here's a list of some good sites to get news feeds from:
http://www.topix.net - You can grab query feeds from this site as I mentioned above.
http://news.google.com - Google provides query feeds similar to the method i mentioned above, except they also provide feeds that are category based. (a feed for technology, one for entertainment, one for business, etc...)
http://news.yahoo.com - Yahoo! News works on the same principle as google news.
http://technorati.com/ - Technorati grabs feeds from blogs, so you can get news from industry leaders, and just regulars that are in the webDev industry like you & myself.
I hope you found this helpful

I'll be posting information like this, and new ideas all the time on my blog at
http://jeremysarda.com you should stop by and read it if you can can find the time, leave comments too!

P.S.
I
am a web developer, so if you're looking to get something like
this done, maybe I can quote the project for you
