Just picked this up from expired.net - not 100% sure on pricing because of the extension

Any thoughts would be appreciated (y)

I really like the name, @MrAcidic ! It seems to me pretty versatile, with use (if priced reasonably) for a consultant in robotics, or one of the many venues that promote learning through robotics, an organization for those interested in robotics, or (most obviously and probably for best profit) a company that sells or makes robotic factory or other products. I think the.org is an advantage for the middle two potential application, and with increasing use generally suitable for any of them.

I have several times considered .org, but not acquired any yet, so I am NOT an expert in the extension, so take that into account in how much weight you place on my views below.

I first offer the following numbers:
  • So far in 2018 .org domains have sold 2495 times for average price of $805 (I can't calculate median exactly from publicly available data, but it is in the $350 range roughly)
  • Domains starting with robot have sold 15 times 2018YTD with average price of $1149
  • Domain names ending with expert have sold 26 times but only for an average price of $231
  • GoValue suggests $1300 (although they list a lot of .org and .com in range $1000 to $1400)
I searched for comparators and the following seem close to me:
  • TechnologyExpert(.)org sold for $800
  • RobotMaster(.)org only sold for $103
I regard your name as better than the second comparator. Yours is shorter, but narrower (which could be good or bad) than the first. Overall I would suggest a valuation of about $1000 with a reasonable range from $600 to $2500. If you price it nearer the bottom that would align closer to median, as opposed to mean, selling prices, and also would open up the possibility of selling to an individual consultant who might not consider the higher prices.

Best of luck with it!

ps Also meant to add that over the last decade .org has grown in actual web use while a number of other major extensions have slightly decreased over the same period. I think the health of the extension is good, even though it does not typically sell for as much as .com.

Really appreciate the in depth analysis!

With the org extension I think you are spot on with the learning through Robotics / consultant angle.

I did check Namebio but only for the word Robot as the first word, so I do need to start doing a more detailed search on Namebio to get a better understanding of past sales (as you do)

On Sedo that the .com version has had 2 bids so far, will be interesting to see what that ends up selling for

Thanks again (y)

I also meant to point out that twice in the last 10 days an .org has lead the NameBio daily report, so some orgs are selling for big values, even though the average and median are more modest (although the two that in first place were both single word, arrest and merchant). Nevertheless, I definitely see momentum in .org. Also of course a few names, like star, have sold for HUGE amounts but mainly to the crypto/blockchain fields.

I really like doing analysis using NameBio, but I know really I should be investing more time in trying to sell my own domain names! :xf.wink:

It is a great name and I hope you have good success with it! I had not realized that the com was in auction at Sedo. Let us know how it turns out, please.
