I got the idea when I saw mxc.io been sold for 10k recently. How much do you think I can get from this one?

its not spelled correctly, so with a typo its not going to be as valuable as riodejanei.ro and its a hack instead of king and not everyone likes the hacks. Saying this, I see potential in the right Brazilian markets and travel industry. Either hold it for awhile til someone wants a cheaper version of the proper spelling or sell it mid xx. ty

Yeah I was aware of the typo before I bought it, but the domain is easily understood, in the same way that people get that mxc.io refers to Mexico even though is more mispelled than my domain. Also adding the fashionable factor of .ios makes me think that mid xx is too low.

What makes you think that mxc.io refers to Mexico? Mxc.io was first registered 2 months back IMO it was more of a fluke sale. The seller got extremely lucky.

Sorry to be blunt but riodejaner.io is a bad example of a hack. IMO you will be extremely lucky if you can get more than $100 for this domain.

Yes, it´s Mexico. That, together with the 3 letters is what pushed it up to 10k. The guy got lucky, but not 10k lucky. We shall see about my domain at the auction, I think I can get $300 for it.

I'm afraid I have to agree with the others. I don't think there's a lot of demand for misspelled domain hacks in .io. Mxc is a whole different animal... It's only three characters, and as @vinodnair mentioned, it could stand for a variety of other things.

Yeah I totally agree that mxc.io is a different animal, that´s why I don´t expect anywhere near 10k, but
300 wouldn´t be surprising.

The risk reward here doesn't pencil out for me but let's look at the premise that mxc.io sold for a lot of money and it means Mexico. The winning formula appears to be drop the vowels and tack on dot io so if we do that with Rio de Janeiro we get rdjnr.io which can be hand regged but it might take a few stiff caipirinhas first. Other comps include SLD match riodejaner.com and riodejaneir.ooo which are sitting on registrar shelves for good reason. Remember, there are 2 kinds of domains - cash cows and termites. Don't let this one near your wooden pencil. Good luck!
