As Obama gets ready to take the oval office, The NRA and many US citizens are watching with curiosity over the possible new gun laws that he may try to pass.

If criminals didn't have guns, we non criminals wouldn't need them, but that will never be the case, criminals will always have guns.

The NRA has protected US citizens right to bear arms for many decades, and won many decisions for US citizens.

I am still unclear on Obamas position, I have seen write ups to where he is saying "Assault Weapons" are the target, Then i have read write ups where it is just guns in general.

Assault Weapons i can understand, If that is all that is planned on being banned.

I have read how Americans rushed out and purchased guns right prior to, and right after he was elected.

Is this really an attempt to break the constitution of the US ?

Or are we looking at just banning Assault Weapons?

Could general semi automatic hand guns be added to the official list of assault weapons?

My state allows conceal carry, of course you must meet the criteria, go through a school, qualify with your hand gun. I have had my conceal carry license 8 years now. It is reassurance that should i be attacked in a parking lot to be robbed, and ect. I will legally be able to use deadly force, as a last resort of course, but be able to use it if need be.

These are the areas that are gentle to the United States Citizens. Our constitution was written by our fore fathers, with them knowing that at points and times, our constitutional rights would try to be taken away from us.

I will be glad when full clarification is made on this issue.

I believe it is more an attempt to break the slimy lobbyist power :)

Even it is in the constitution for everybody to own a weapon, it got out of hand big time....just the fact that here in Georgia everybody who has a drivers license(everybody!) can get a weapon is just wrong...i strongly support the conceal carry license...would that get rid of the crimes?...no but it would make it more difficult...

Talking about a ban of Assault weapons wouldn't fix the problem, even with a 22 caliber you can kill..but at least you need the skills to do so, no"just pull the trigger and blast out the bullets" effect

Besides that, i will get a gun myself very soon, with this declining economy there will be more crime :(

Cheers

I agree Frank.

One thing i think of that is a lot worse, Is a black market for guns. Criminals being criminals, they know how to mod guns to make them into assault weapons, the latter problem with a black market, they would have no serial numbers, barrels could be changed out in mere seconds. That would be letting the criminals have a huge upper hand in their crime sprees Imo. Banning guns would make all good citizens vulnerable to criminals. Right now, they are at the least, playing a game of chance not knowing rather the persons house they enter, will have a gun.

100% agreement. Disappointed when people don't get this. It's completely irrefutable. Some living in a dream world thinking the police can intervene in time.
