Clean and nice. I would hit the nav bar with a gradient to be honest. The wide space at the top next to the logo i would add an advertisement but i would also make the logo more prominent before i did that. Also i would add an advertisement below the map to fill in the space there or even a news section or new members type of thing.

Looks great. the height of the page doesn't quite match the background for me but hey.

You should also consider putting a part of the join now process on the first page so that it is nice and easy for people to join. One click can 50% of the time be to many...
