Traditional blog UI, i'd add some more "patriotic" features/images to it.

Other than that, not much to say since you didn't really do all too much custom work. Great topic with difficulty to launch since the kings of political reporting are the news networks. However, if you're building on that, you've got a solid idea on your hand.

I don't know if I really want to go the "patriotic" route as although many of the issues that will be discussed are about the U.S., I will also be discussing global events and want to keep my options open, and not isolate/ deter people in other countries.

Then i'd suggest tabs pertaining to geo regions. USA, Europe, Asia, etc. Or USA & World News.

A few suggestions:

Move the picture of Gonzales a few pixels away from the text, they're touching.
Contact Us page should be more user friendly, such as a mailto: tag, or a Form.

That's all I got. Good looking site. Understand this site is going to be a lifestyle/career because politics are so huge. Good luck though Dude!
