redirected URL showing incorrectly

hi guys-

i have a basic question re: URL redirects. Here is my setup:

abcompany.com has been developed which has:

1) index.html at the root directory;
2) A folder called "images" where the flash content is stored

abcompanyinc.com has not been developed

1) I used a "Redirect to URL" feature to redirect to abcompany.com

Typing the abcompanyinc.com in the browser does not show the splash page at the abcompany.com . Instead, it's showing a simple unix folder structure which has:
1) Parent Directory;
2) cgi-bin

If I click on the cgi-bin link, the browser shows the splash page?

I thought redirect will simply show the index page of the receving domain name? When I redirect, should I send to a specific file?

Can someone help me?

Do you have an index file on abcompanyinc.com or abcompany.com

Sounds like abcompany.com needs a .htaccess file with this written in it.

DirectoryIndex index.html

The file needs to just be called .htaccess and placed in the root directory (same place as the index.html file)

Not quite sure about the "If I click on the cgi-bin link, the browser shows the splash page?" though.
