Countdown script?

I am looking for a script that will grab the time a cronjob last ran in a database and countdown until the next time it runs (i.e. every 10 mins).

Once it hits 0 the script should check the database for the file and then restart the countdown from 10 mins.

Any ideas on how to make the script update without refreshing the page?

AJAX would make the page update without refreshing it, or even just javascript, depending on what you wanted to do.
