Hi

I am revamping my web design business and trying to maximise profits. I currently buy all my domain names from 1and1 Internet and then resell them to my customers for a slight profit or give them free with hsoting or web design for the first year. Through 1and1 I currently pay the following:

£10.44 inc vat for 1 year .com .net .org etc
£4.66 inc vat for 2 years .co.uk

Has anyone found better prices than these or is there a better way to do it? What is the common practice?

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
The .com, .net, org prices you list are higher than those available at several registrars used my many people here at Namepros. I know nothing about .co.uk, but that looks pretty cheap.

Most prefer Moniker.com. The price you pay depends on your volume, but there are discounts for Namepros members. (Welcome, by the way.)

NameCheap.com is also popular, search in the little box at the top right of your screen for "Namecheap coupon" (no quotes) there often is a coupon to get their names around $8 / year (US dollars). Last time I looked they were about $9 without a coupon.

People are tiring of Godaddy.com and their hype, plus a few other issues. I have had good service there so I still use them. They often have specials that are very cheap. Again search above for coupons - .net is $5/ year for the next week or so.

Enom.com probably has the best reseller service
DirectI or Resellerclub.com has one of the best reseller prices.
I find that GoDaddy domains do sell better to novice domain buyers and Moniker domains tend to sell better with experienced domainers.

What are renewal prices at 1&1 like?

Thanks folks

I already have whois.cart purchased so i can resell hosting and domain names via my own website. I just need to set up a hosting reseller and domain name reseller package to link with this. Can anyone recommend how I proceed from here? CUstomer service is very important though as my previous hosting reseller was bad at this.

What am I missing? I use 1&1 and I pay $5.99 per year for domain name regs and renewals. Forwarding and DNS changes are free. I've been very happy with their service.

Enom or Godaddy have reseller schemes that may fit your purpose. DirectI or onlinenic too. As a reseller you will be providing support to your clients. The registrars will only provide support to you for upstream issues that are beyond your control.
You need to be knowledgeable about domains, DNS etc. It will be up to you to answers questions from your clients. The registrar will not help.

Does anyone else use a cart (eg whoiscart) and a domain reseller account? Can anyone tell me the basics of whats involved and what I need to do to set it all up? I would like everything integrated into my existing site completely.
