Researching Buyers

How do you go about researching buyers if you receive an offer on Sedo/Afternic? Which services do you use? How does this differ if you receive an offer via your whois information?

Although I don't get heavily involved with it. Finding a potential buyers identity through Sedo or Afternic is next to impossible. You need to treat those offers as if they are truely end-users, and negotiate blindly. Its unfortunate, but as long as your realistic with your asking price - you'll hit some strikes eventually.

While its a helluva lot harder to do if the offer is through sedo it is not totally impossible.

First thing I do is to check if the same name has recently been registered in other extensions - I usually use eurodns.com or domainsite.com as they show alot of country extensions, if so - Then take a look at the whois dates for names & email addresses. Stick them in Mr Google and do some researching.

Another thing I use is Google News - Type the term in and see if there's something new happening related to your keywords. I have also set a few names up for google Alerts to send me relevant news.

So far I'v found the person who has made offers on my sedo names at least 5 times - give it a shot, you may get lucky ?

Yeah...it's a long shot but it does sometimes work.

Whois search for recent registrations in other tld's and then google search for the newly registered domain for both the Registrant and email address. (Personally, prefer to use www.iWhois.com for my multiple tld searches)

Sometimes you can discern the name from the Sedo/afternic account name and I google that.

Is nobody using those, I don't know what they're called genericly, uhmm, people yellow pages, where you input the name or email address. Do any of these services provide any useful information?

as far as I know, those "people" Yellow Pages are quite expensive...plus they're stalker paradise.
