Size Requirements : Should be able to resize the logo to any appropriate size

Color Requirements : Open to any color scheme that looks good and "pops" on a white background

General Requirements : Logo is for a local business directory called Ocalainc.com.

Would like to see some variations with the tagline "The Ocala & Marion County Business Directory"

Logo should include the .com

Ocala and inc should be somehow distinct from each other (typography, color, etc)


Site will be B2C (business to consumer), so something that is consumer-friendly would be perfect.

Additional Information : As far as everything else goes, I'm really open and I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

I'm not a fan of the reflection effect and I think the colors are a little muddy, but this is a good start to the contest.

I sent RJ a private message regarding a deposit before I started this contest and did not receive a response back. I then went ahead with the thread assuming that if there was a problem he would pull the thread or contact me directly.

Even though I'm new on this board, I am a long-time webmaster and fully intend to complete the contest and pay out the winner in full.

If I am breaking the design contest rules in some way, I encourage a mod to contact me via PM so that I can rectify the situation.

Frozen Nova -- I like the orange and blue much better. You might want to try a lowercase "i" or a different font on the "inc" part since it seems to get a little confusing with the "l" in Ocala in such close proximity. I'd like to see what you were going to do with the orange and blue circle. This is a strong entry though. Good revision.

J-MAN -- I really like the palm trees in your first logo. It is Florida after all, so it's very appropriate.

The second logo you submitted, I have the same comment about the lowercase "l" and uppercase "i" being confusing. Maybe try a lowercase "i" or a different font on the "inc" so that it stands out.

I''m not crazy about the brown/black color combo, but other than the colors, I like where both designs are going in the right direction

Some additional direction for everyone:

Ocala, FL is a very sunny and green place, so vibrant colors would be very appropriate.
The area is known most for horses and lakes so subtly working either one of those in would be interesting (but certainly not required)

J-MAN - Thanks for the revisions. The colors are much better now. Out of the three, I think the last one is probably the best so far. I'd like to see you work with a different font on the "Ocala" though maybe. That's the part that isn't quite coming together yet.

Frozen Nova -- Unfortunately, this one just isn't there yet for me. It's not quite crisp and doesn't quite work at the moment.

Don -- Thanks for entering. I really like this option! I think that there are a lot of different colors in that sun area. You might want to play with limiting the number of colors so that it's not so many different colors. I also think the Ocalainc.com gets a bit lost and little overpowered by the tagline.

These are looking really good. Keep the entries coming!

marcello -- I like to top version. I'd like to see what it looks like once you add the "inc"

Don -- much better. I really like this one.

J-MAN - I like #2 and #3 the best

diephilippa -- This isn't quite hitting the mark for me. I think the script font is a little too romantic for this type of site. The palm tree and swoosh in the middle seem like three disjointed parts. There isn't really a clear connection between the three parts.

Electric Shadow --- This is okay. It's very simple. I think the colors could be a little better. It seems a little too subtle as-is
