Removing icons for PHPBB

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the icons in PHPBB forums. Icons include "new post", "latest post" icons, etc.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You're gonna be looking at editing the source code. If you really don't wanna do that, or just want a quick and dirty solution to see how it looks, replace the images with 1x1 transparent gif's and watch them disappear.

Make backups first of course

I assume you want to replace them with text. You will need to go through each template file and replace them.

Is there any version of phpbb that you can install that comes without the icons?

just don't up the images, you get text instead :P

the easiest way is to edit the template files.

the ones you probably need to edit are, index_body.tpl, viewforum.tpl and viewtopic.tpl

If you search Google there are plenty of hacks out there. I remember once finding a hack for VB that changed the moderator and administrator link colors. Try searching for it. I am sure someone has all the coding and all the files that need to be edited. I would highly recommend just using new icons. The text will be very hard to deal with :imho:.
