Hi everyone,
I'd need an appraisal for my domain relx (dot) com
I recently got 2 offers on the domain (via Sedo) of 1000€ ($1350) and 1500€ ($2000) and i'm not sure yet what I should do.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
yaay
Other than being a typo of 'relax', it doesn't seem to be much. The dot.org is mildly developed but nothing special. This is kind of an 'on the cusp' name, it's pronounceable and somewhat interesting but doesn't have any clear meaning or use -- at least, obvious right away when I check googs. Value seems to be only in its attractiveness as a brandable.
It's the kind of domain that someone like Brandbucket may or may not take, it's not a clear winner as a brandable/pronounceable. Based on all that, I'd have to agree generally with the above member:
reseller = you'd be lucky to get in the $50 to 200 range, the upper end of that only if the reseller absolutely loved it and had a plan for it.
end user = $300 and up. So I'm wondering who your buyer is that it's worth such a strong offer. Of course, since the offers are thru Sedo, you won't know who it is until after your deal goes through. I wonder if it's the punk band 'New York Rel-X' (when you type 'rel x' into googs that band is pretty much all that comes up)? Or it could be a Chinese person/company, as these have been paying strong amounts occasionally for LLLL with 3 prem letters and ending in 'x' (like I said, 'occasionally', so don't everyone stampede to buy LLLL ending in 'x'). I got smart and did a reg search also on 'rel-x', and the dot.com and dot.info are regged, so I thought maybe some company/product called Rel-x might be out there... but the dot.com is just parked with some adult links, so that's no help in the investigation.
The offers are thru Sedo, and usually the buyers there know about domains, know about counter-offers, and fully expect you to counter higher. Not always, but that's a pretty general rule of thumb.
I would easily sell this domain for either of those offers, if it were mine. However, I would still counter higher to see what happens, like even double it. If they come back with their same initial offer you can assume it's firm, and accept or cancel the nego's.
***If the offers were from 2 different Sedo accounts, then something's going on you don't know about. If it's 2 different people, by all means throw it to a 7-day Sedo auction and let them duke it out and you might be surprised
Good luck.
Oh, but don't ever sell 'yaay' for that amount. Now, that is a great one
