Where is the best places online to get worldwide domain name registration statistics? I consider that the participation rate of people buying domains is useful information when considering the current state of the domain market. I saw recently dnjournal using a comparison of last years sale statistics with this years and showing that they were very similar.
The argument presented in a recent domain article I read that there hasn't been a significant shift in the market as the number of public sales (excluding 7 figure sales) were similar. From my understanding there has been around 10% growth in .com & other registrations in the last 12 months. However, the public sales stats are slightly down and considering the growth in registration rates has still been high, the conclusion of the article is not as strong as they would like to believe.
Personally, I am interested in comparing trends in sales stats with registration rates. I have limited interest in registration rates with different registras as I think that it is more useful to know locational statistics. I am also interested in knowing the more recent growth rates in .com and overall domain registration rates.
I understand that in recent weeks .com registration growth is around 5% and overall domain name growth seems to look faster but I can't verify that. This is quite high considering the nervous share market. I also don't know if the growth is dominated by Asian markets (or other countries that are not so badly affected by the financial crises) or if there is still steady growth in most countries.
