Registerfly transfer workaround

I don't have any Registerfly domains, but this article was quite interesting.

http://www.networkworld.com/community/?q=node/12531

The article mentions that the Easter Seals Society, the government of Thailand, and Michael Jackson are Registerfly customers.

Anyway...
It suggests the following method (authored by Valentino Vicceztar, proprietor of "Poker Rouge Blog") to get the your Registerfly transfer codes. Since I don't deal with Registerfly, I have no idea if this works or is even a good idea:

1. Create A New Register Fly Account.
2. Login into the Old RegisterFly Account.
3. Click on Manage Domains
4. Click A Domain Name
5. Click On Change Ownership
6. Click On "Push your names to another user"
7. Click Continue
8. Enter The User ID of The New RegisterFly Account
9. Verify The User ID of The New RegisterFly Account is Correct
10. Click Continue
11. Select Each Domain Name to Push
12. Check the Check Box Marked "Change the Whois/Contact info on the names being pushed"

*** Check This Box Only if your Domains are Showing ProtectFly Information on a Whois Database, If it's Showing your Real Information with Working Email Then Continue Without Checking the Check Box ***

13. Login into Your New RegisterFly Account, Your Recently Transferred Domains Should Be All Unlocked.
14. Click Change Whois Information And Get Authorization Code for Each Domain.
15. Begin Transfer to New Registrar.

Sounds like its worth a shot to people who want to transfer, my domains are all horrible .info's, so no need for me.

if you changed the ownership, do you have to wait for 60 days?

No as its not the same as a proper transfer of ownership. It's internal.

This method was actually release on the net for a while already before the Valentino Vicceztar posted in his blog.

If you have the original source, please provide it. I think we should give credit where credit is due.

my opinion is that regfly is so screwed-up that I would be afraid to do a massive push being that the whois..registrant info would get f-up..did a few sedo sales lately and they required the names to be transferred out instead of being pushed to their account..

This site seems to have some helpful info if you have troubles with REGISTERFLY http://www.registerflea.com

But I must warn you the registerfly banner is a bit offencive although it is the same as the one that I found on my registerfly account login page when I checked to see if all my domains had been pushed to enom yet.

hmm, I just tried it, and it didn't work. I can't update DNS, and each time I go into update the profile, all the fileds are blank, and the only authoriaztion code a see is a capital "U" nonsense

The transfer codes are in your account---They are in the section to update your contact Info---Go to the very bottom of that page---Your will see the code

I did that , there's nothing there, and each time i go to get teh code, my profile is blank, and when i go to set it with the default, and save it, it errors.
so, first I have no personal info, and a "U" as my code at the bottom. then I have personal info and no code. PLUS now I can't unlock the name, I am/have been trying to get my last 13 names out!

Registerlies

U means that they are trying to rip you off.
I have had the dreaded U before, the only way that I could get the code was by demanding it with a support ticket.
But now that is useless because they are not answering support tickets, you should create a ticket for each sus domain with the domain name in the title, then at least there will a record of your domain when it all implodes and Icann has to clean up the mess.
Contact enom.com previously the reseller to registerfly scum, get into your registerfly account and get screen shot of all your domains, get digital copy of goverment issue ID such as drivers license and create a list of all domains at registerfly scam site and email all three pieces of info to enom they should be able push the domains to your new account that you will have to create with enom. %%-

it's odd, my other names all have correct info and stay unlocked, and I can get auth code, but since I initiated transfer away, that domain cannot be unlocked and my personal info keeps going back to blank. they are up to something. this sucks

From the latest news and from my understanding. Registerfly lost its accreditation. And have to abide by ICANN rules. By March 31 they have to unlock all domains so they can be transfer. And they also have to find another registar who will take everyone(no I dont know if it will be free or at a discount). If they dont abide by the 31st than ICANN gets to choose the newest registar for all the domains.

I also know Godaddy is helping out Registerfly custome out by giving them a discount to transfer. And as of to date Godaddy says they have helped over or close to 7000 customers transfer. From my understanding they will get the unexpired time left on the domain plus 1year added

Registerfly customers who transfer will retain whatever unexpired term they had in place with Registerfly, plus they will get an extra year added to the term of the registration after the transfer takes place.

My bet is Godaddy will be involved in some way. They seem active in helping customers transfer. I was surprised they even phoned me (since I only have 2 domains at godaddy) to discuss the matter.

Some Reg Fly names are resold from Enom, some are not. If it says Enom in your Whois then Enom can get your name out for you, no charge (as i understand) and will renew at regfly prices.

Transfers ARE happening - I got my 3 out yesterday.

Click the domain name. Be sure lock and protectfly are off. There is a blue bar that says Domain Contact Information. Click the little + on the right of the bar. It will either give you a black button saying configure, (click that) or it will give you the Admin, billing addresses and etc. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there is a black button marked configure. Click that. Once you click configure you get another page of the addresses and you will find the Authorization code at the bottom on the left.

After I submitted the code to my new registrar I waited two days. Then I got an email from Regfly for each domain with a link to click and yet another code. I followed the instructions and an hour later the names were transfered. YaaaY!

Thats all well and good, but if they want your domain there will be no auth code only a U and your contact information may be changed to that of registerfly and be non updateable as many in my account have been. Or they could just refuse the transfer as they have done with some of my domains.
Yes some domains are transfering ok to enom and godaddy, but many are not, I have waisted too much time with these ripoff merchants already, Push to enom is much easier.
Just seems to take a long time....Still waiting for Enom to do it.
Must be a hell of a job for enom with all the corrupted info.

Hmmm.......arghhhhh.....This is funny in a non comical way....The irony.....The anger....the laughter of it all.....sitting in the corner..............

I want to transfer the last two good domains I have, and by the life of me can not find the auth code. They are not in the contact info---update contact info---at the bottom of the page. I have looked for the FAQ page before I even attempt to go for support.

Hmmm anyways....I will figure out something.
