Hi,

what do you think of my new dot com reg?:

Register-Name [dot] com

I know the hyphen really kills it - but what are your thoughts?

Thanks in advance,

Well, the hyphen kills it only if you were expecting to handreg a $500k name.
It is what it is, which is one of the best hand regged *domaining* names I've seen.
I would keep it & set it up as a master reseller site.
Sell domain & hosting reseller accts to other people.
Then everytime one of 'your' resellers signs up a customer, you get a little cut.
You can do this with GD, reseller.biz, OpenSRS, and a few others.
Value = high $xxx to low $x,xxx.
I know the appraisers that follow me in this thread will probably howl about my valuation & whine about the hyphen.
But I challenge them to go and hand reg a better domaining name.

..if there's no good avail names left it does not automatically make any "best of the worst" handreg worth $x,xxx

..even without a hyphen the name would look ugly and of low quality to me without "a", "your" etc
hyphen just finishes that..

i see no value at all, sorry

best

*Not surprised*
Domaining is a religion...
The hyphen is an unforgiveable sin.
Doesn't matter what else you got going for you!

Hey 4pm, sorry we are not you.
WE WOULD be if we could be.
But all we got is whats left.
Yes I have sold hand regged names for high xxx to low x,xxx.
You would hate those too.
But its all we got left.

really? that's kinda fresh concept, never heard about it yet
what makes you think so?
..may be for you personally, then speak for yourself

The hyphen is an unforgiveable sin.

that's called statistics...

Yes I have sold hand regged names for high xxx to low x,xxx.

many of us do that actually.
me included.
so what and how that relates to the quality of OP's domain?

You would hate those too.

how do you know? give us an example of your sales and we'll see then..

Hyphenated domains can be valuable but not so much in this case: it kills the branding potential imo.
I'm not saying hyphens are a no-no but the vast majority of sales involve non-Hyphenated domains - it's called statistics like 4pm would say. I could see a sale to a domainer/domain reseller though - low $$ and up. Who knows.
PS: only the .com is registered. Other TLDs are available, which suggests that the domain isn't that huge :imho:

OH! :(
I guess I should have done the research.
I was tired and didn't wanna do it.

My sincere apologies to paperbaby and 4pm.
I shouldn't be crashing recklessly thru the appraisals after midnight.
