I think it's a good match (made in hell), Jumps Register.com into 3rd position behind GoDaddy and eNom, iirc. They both have the same high priced strategy. That's a pretty good place to be in the pecking order with such a strategy. Personally, I don't like either of them though

Not for domain registrations only. Their respective front pages will tell you what their business models are, and they're arguably working.

Very true. Most, if not all registrars have added hosting and other add-ons (SSL certificates) to their offerings to compensate for the decline in domain registration sales, which they also charge a pretty penny for.
