Hello,

I am the owner of the domain RedPolo.com and was wondering what the community opinion is on this name. I have contacted one potential end user today simply stating that I have the domain in my possession and seeing if they have interest and am awaiting a reply.

Thank you!

Hello!

You might be heading into some trademark issues...

Best of luck!

Hi,

Would there be issues just for holding the domain you mean?

I'm not completely familiar with the trademark laws, but I think you could loose it, should the owner of the trademark start a process to do that. Also, you are not allowed to profit from other people registered trademarks, so...

Best of luck!

polo, may be a tm of ralph lauren

but, there is no more value in red polo than, blue or black polo

imo...

I don't really see the TM issue here. Polo is a TM of Ralph Lauren, but it is also a generic word. Not only that, but when I worked in retail during highschool/college, Ralph Lauren wasn't the only "polo"-based clothing brand. There was also "US Polo Association" which actually made some very similar things... the point being that even in that industry it is hard for them to have complete TM.. There is also a TM on "Polo Red", but that is for the perfume industry... just stay out of that industry and there isn't an issue..

Polo can mean both a type of shirt or a sport....

At first glance it sounds decent for branding in that it is a common 3L color + well known 4L noun... but I think branding yourself around a type of shirt would be very difficult... "RedShirt" would work, but I don't really get the feeling for "RedPolo".
As a keyword domain, it falls short both in that it is singular and super niche.... a color of a type of shirt....

I see it as regfee - low $xx reseller and mid $xx - low $xxx as a brandable to an enduser (IF you can find someone)...

Hope this helps!

It's deeper than just Polo being trademarked. They also have a trademark on Polo Red. If you have Fragrance ads or RL ads displayed it can be a problem. HugeDomains.com owns GreenPolo.com

Yeah, I mention that TM in my post, but that doesn't blackmark this domain. You just can't park it with ads and need to be mindful of the industry you either develop it for or market it to.

Maybe try to sell it to HugeDomains for a reseller price. :)

Check tess2.uspto.gov for polo trademark. If it's just in the clothing class, then you're probably fine.

I like "color"+verb and "color"+noun .coms. They've done well for me.

I'd say it's a $1,000 domain to the right buyer give or take $1,000. :)
