I've got a typo domain name for a very large online store with an affiliate program. Basically, I want to route people straight to their home page using my affiliate link.

Here's the question: If I used a redirect page, how long should I time it? Do I push them quickly so all they see is a quick blank white page and then the company's home page? Or , push them after a few second delay and after displaying a message like "You are being tranferred to XXX company's web site"?

Any opinions would be greatley appreciated.

I would say that 5 seconds would be the longest, as for the time Im not sure really what would be good. Maybe 2 - 3 seconds.

Would you tell visitors that you are redirecting them or not?

if you are an affiliate I wouldn't tell them otherwise they could just go and bookmark the other site or take a note of the correct spelling.

If you do it immediately then they may not even be aware they have been redirected

Why bother delaying it at all? I would make the redirect as instant and unnoticable as possible.

I would say redirect it straight away.

redirection is best. My best doing redirection site is www.nopay.org. You can test by visiting the url.

Its cool. But dont stealth redirect.(this means, the people will see your url in the address bar but your affiliate site in the main window).

This may lead to non validation of your affiliate link and will result in loss of commissions in some cases because of the cookie problem.
