I am looking at the best way to redirect a site to a subdomain. As a example direct all visitors to www.yourcompany.com to shop.yourcompany.com

Looking for what is the best method to do this so that it works with all browsers and best for SEO. What would you suggest and why?

Currently using Meta Redirect but considering using htaccess Redirect instead.

Any advice/comments appreciated.

RedirectPermanent http://shop.yourcompany.com in you htaccess file (from www.yourcomapny.com) or in your virtual host file

This directive makes the client know that the Redirect is permanent (status 301). Exactly equivalent to Redirect permanent.
