you can backorder a name at any time, just as long as you backorder it a day or so before it drops

yes i backorder a bunch of domains that are in REDEMPTION with my godaddy backdoors, but i have not yet got one with them dang

Yes, you can backorder a domain anytime like everyone has said

the best time would be the 'end of the redemption period (right before pending delete)' to try to get its backorder because its only in pending delete for 5 days & not many people care about redemption period (35+ days until deletion!)
