Hi,
Given namejet and snapnames are selling many expiring pre-release names before they enter the redeption grace period, what will happen if some ex-owner decides to renew his name with the extra fee after the name was already sold to the new owner? Or will the redemption period be terminated in this case? I haven't find the information about this issue possibility at icaan...

once the auction starts at NameJet and Snapnames then the domains are already past possible renewal...

If it's a Pre-release, the owner can redeem (at a premium price) the domain name during and after the auction. This has happened to me at Namejet; I lost a won auction to the original owner who decided to renew.

:(

I have heard of names being redeemed up to 40 days after a pre-release auction, which is why the buyer should fly under the radar until he or she is sure that the domain won't be snatched away.

Also, I believe that NJ places an auction lock on the name for 40-45 days after the completed auction.

For won pending deletes: the name belongs to the auction winner.

Ms Domainer - thanks a lot for shedding light on this. It's strange, however, that the mentioned selling platforms do not explain the nature of the auction lock clearly in their terms.
Also, according to domain life cycle description, redemption period is just 30 days. Having the won name redeemed in 40 days after the auction means that the auction has ended within auto-renew GRACE period, which means that the ex-owner could probably recover it for free at all?
