Purchased for low $xxx, I don't like to accept initial offers but not sure how much I should ask for, maybe buyer has deep pockets, received inquiry via Efty but can't pinpoint who the buyer really is (multiple people with same name).

In whatever you do, don't be too greedy but considerate... Good luck.

ah ok

well from what I remember about .ws and .ws sales... 3000$ offer is basically something to accept without much thinking. ;)

appraisal scam

I don't think so, the only appraisal scam I came across was when I registered my first domain years ago, and I don't think those scammers do it via landing page, they email us on our whois email.

I can confirm that it's a legit buyer who runs a cloud computing company offering cloud, hosting, web and app development services, but they are a small company.. who posted on their official Twitter and FB over 3 years ago..

I would sell

scams happen even through landing pages.. I had a few.. aside from this, there are also the so called not serious buyers.. so imo if u have offer of 3k for a poorly selling tld like this.. then you should not even bother to counter.. and just go for it.. epsecially now that you say they are small.

Once in a lifetime offer imho. I'd sell in a heartbeat before the other party changes their mind (or sleep off their intoxication) :xf.grin:

I think they saw MediaOptions asking price for .com and thought $3000 should be the price of .ws..

Got to accept before they look at other extensions available. keep the reply as if you've slept on it and indeed deliberated about selling. But move it forward.

Reads to me that they have taken a liking without really viewing all their other options

Let me add here that an offer through Efty is way different than an offer through a platform like Sedo. With Efty you can offer anybody anything you like and you are not commited to buy. On Sedo you are committed to buy or you get banned.

So getting an offer on Efty has to be taken with a grain of salt. If you say yes right away they could back down because they might think they offered too much.

Personally I would respond like this (I am not telling you how to respond, just stating what I would do)

I would respond with a positive first.

Thank you very much for your offer, it is an offer that is definitely in range of my target selling price.

Then the not so negative

I was thinking more in the $5000 range for this one but if you would like to make the deal fairly fast I could be persuaded to meet you half way for a total selling price of $4000 USD.

This way the buyer can deal and you are not accepting too fast. It is close enough that they probably won't walk and it allows them to realize a discount. The response for me is pretty standard and has been very effective for me when closing deals.

I think this is a nice response to give for the offer

This doesn't help...
I had many non-payers on Sedo... and my friends as well.

Agreed but you will get les feel out offers than on Efty.
On Efty one can offer anything and even if the end user specifies 10k you can just input 10k and then in the comments say 5k is my offer. Nothing commits you even to the 5k when the offer is made.

So the 3k could just be a "feel out" offer and there is a risk if one responds too fast with a Yes.

The best protection is on 4.cn (if no changes, this info is from past experience).
You can bid only what you have on your account balance.
