I quite often read people saying my site is going up the search engine rankings

I am wondering what resource they are using for this check ?

And how do you check your rankings over multiple search engines i am wondering

I quite often get emails saying we can help your search engine rankings for 300+ engines all over the world

How would you be able to check this i am always wondering

I use Rank Checker from seobook.com it's firefox plugin and it will check rank for any combination of keywords for Google, Yahoo and Microsoft.

Also when an SEO company says they will submit to 300 search engines it is kinda of a joke since you don't need to submit your site to any search engine as long as you have links going to your site.
