When someone posts in the wanted section, for example, saying 'wanted two word phrase' why would they pay someone to find them a domain? How come they don't go to 'godaddy' and just search for a two worded phrase instead of paying someone to buy it for 12 dollars and sell it to them for more?

Or is the point that they want a domain that isn't brand new? Are brand new made domains worthless?

Thanks!

Most buyers are asking domain owners to tell them about the domains they have that match what they are looking for. In my experience it is a waste of time tell such people about your domains.

The fact is, he's looking for a domain to fit a specific criteria that isn't necessarily available in the open registry.

You can't go register BackFlip.com or BottomsUp.com for $8 bucks in the open registry anymore. Domains like these (especially .coms) have long since been registered. Short of sitting at his computer for hours racking his brain to find something suitable, he calls upon domain owners/collectors to see what they may have to offer. In his ad, he's willing to spend upwards of X,XXX for the right name, because he needs a short, memorable domain name that is well suited to his endeavor.
