Quick question about 3 letter domains.

What is kind of a golden rule on purchasing 3 letter domains?

I have found some that are pronounceable but are in the .bz .cc .nu .in and so on. Are these worth grabbing a pronounceable? Say for example its something like lyg.cc its not a word, but pronounceable is that worth the pickup? Im a little confused about this?

Before you go buying up - LLL's in ccTLD's make sure you check the sales comp's. Your going to find that .com and .net values are exceptionally higher than the rest, and even wholesale reseller pricing are gaining at exceptional rates. Always do your homework before investing, thats the golden rule.

I am trying to learn what kind of homework I should do. I think I found a couple that are pretty valuable, but I am stuck on what the value would be for a .cc. Ok lets say I just purchased vak.cc would that have any value to a reseller?

Heres a sales comp which should shed some light on that particular extension. Earlier this year - Lay.cc sold for $60 on Sedo. I strongly recommend avoiding .cc as a viable ccTLD. One recommendation I would make is to try and stick with .com.

When new domainers come into the game, they make the typical rookie mistakes, but they also look to ccTLD's believing they can find "valuable" keywords in those TLD's - but what most overlook is sales history and sales viability. Who is going to buy your domain and why? The truth is that US Business relies almost completely on .com as THE tld. Sure .net and .org have value and are used. But if you were going to start a business - what TLD would you do it under?.... that question alone should make you re-consider your domain strategy.
