I recently registered a domain on yahoo with the price of $4.98 a year.
What I wanna ask is that am I able to transfer this domain to someone else? There seems not such an option in the control panel.

Does anybody have similar experience with yahoo?

Thank you. :D

Last time when I was trying to buy a name registered at yahoo, the buyer said that it cant be transferred he can only give me his username and password :)
Sounds funny if I have 10 names transferred I have to write all those username and passwords in a file

yahoo isn't exactly focused on the needs of domain resellers, so it's no surprise that they have no provision for transferring domain ownership internally. Your best bet would be to transfer the domain to another registrar.

The old " Hook, Line and Sinker " not the best choice for a Domain Reseller as mentioned. With these low ball reg pricing theres usually a catch... and it seems that Yahoo played that card...

there cant be a catch....

As an accredited registrar, Yahoo has to oblige to ICANNs regulations and that means that any domain registered with them can be (by LAW) transfered to any registrar withing 60 days.

Shit i think i have insomnia.....
Maybe i should get some sleeping pills or something.

If the domain is registrar-locked, it still can't be transferred.

A lot of registrars now lock domains by default, and if their interface is clumsy o support is unresponsive, then your domain could still be difficult to transfer.

Cant we complain about such registrar to Verising or ICANN?

I currently have a domain with yahoo. I have a buyer for one of my domains and I need to transfer it to them, how do I go about doing this? How do you go about transfering to a different registrar if you can't do it on yahoo?

Have you tried asking yahoo support?

If your domain is not registrar-locked, and your email is on the domain's whois, then you can just initiate a transfer from any other registrar. I would suggest either enom or godaddy for this.

Sorry I am new with all this stuff. After I transfer the domain to godaddy how do I transfer the domain the person that wants to purchase the name?

Another question when I am going throught the domain transfer would I select the forwarding option to send it to the purchaser?

Well, you just click "change account" in your godaddy panel.
Then fill in the information of the new registrant.
Usually you only need an email address to transfer the domain and let the new owner update the rest of the infos.

Thank you! One more thing, does the purchaser need to have a godaddy account also to recieve the domain?
