Hi!

I am curious to hear your appraisals of the current (name only) value of puzzle.net?

I noticed crosswordpuzzles.com went for $210,000 (2007-11-07) at moniker.com

The term "puzzle" has good search volume in comparison:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=Crossword+Puzzles,+puzzle,+puzzles

Also some nice .net sales last year:
RealEstate.net $300,000
DIY.net $200,000
Chinese.net $180,000
Ringtones.net $175,000

Thanks in advance :)

Would say around $8k-10k. Last year it might have got into the low 5 figures, this year I don't see it getting that.

In terms of mid 5 figure names that is close to the top end in the .net world right now, fishing.net (52k) and baseball.net (50k) recently sold at that level. Low 5 figs is names like swimming.net (20k) which is still quite a lot stronger than puzzle.net in my view.

DIY.net $200,000 and Chinese.net $180,000 are aberrations, whilst realestate.net and ringtones.net are examples of top 10 names at boom time prices.

i reckon you could get $20,000 for this name if you work at finding the right buyer

in terms of a quick resale, i'd expect a solid $10-15k

good luck what ever you end up doing!

Thanks for the appraisal so far, seems the average appraisal value has increased from 2.5 years ago, so that's good. Perhaps a few more years will add an extra 0... and perhaps even more with development...

Why do you see swimming.net as stronger?

The term is more popular and has slightly clearer commercial focus, plus it it doesn't have the singular/plural issues that puzzle has (in terms of the plural being far stronger).

Yeah, strangely enough "puzzle" has higher search volume than "puzzles" on google trends:
http://www.google.com/trends?q=puzzle,+puzzles
But it is the other way round at wordtracker.com

Low $x,xxx.

worth high $x,xxx - low $xx,xxx for resellers, puzzles.net would've been much better imo regardless of search graph at google trends.

Yeah, must be a difference in British English and American English. Because I prefer "puzzle" and I am Australian... And the graphs at google trends show that in Australia and UK the searches for "Puzzle" are higher than "Puzzles", though for the US it is the other way around... interesting...

Puzzles would be better but still a great name. I would say looking at recent .nets that a reseller would offer you anywhere from 6-8K for this name and a reseller who thought he could find an enduser better would offer 8-12K. now the enuser amout I would say might range from 12: to upwards of 25K. the plural would probaly be a 20-35K name. hey 8-20K is nothing to sneeze at. now it depends how you got the name. did you hand reg it a few years ago. if so then a sale for 8-20 is incredible. if you purchased it on the market. it depends what you paid. if you paid 8K plus your sale needs to be to an enduser . if you paid 2-5K then any sale will be a profit. if you paid 10K + then maybe hold onto it for a while and wait for that one enduser who will offer 25K. but good luck whatever you do. terriffic name.
Do you mind letting us know if you hand regged it or purchased it.
