My experience

I ask for appraisals here on a domain name I own and got results similar to yours. So far I have received, and turned down $40,000 for my domain name.

Look at comparable domain sales if possible. PetSupplies.com $75,000 isn't that close but Feline.com $15,000 and Dog.net $15,000 are a little closer. Note the DOG is a NET.

I assume since you have had it for quite a while and have had offers you are looking for an end user. I also assume you can wait for a good offer and don't have to sell quickly.

My guess is low $xx,xxx but for the right buyer it could go higher. The traffic by itself is amazing and another method of analysis could place it into the mid $xx,xxx range- just as a revenue stream (park it, put ads on it and cash the checks).

Obiously appraisals are very subjective ... but after reading these posts, I would't mind being a fly on the wall if you hold an auction, because this name could be very interesting to see how it would all work out in the end.

At the end of the day, the domain is worth what someone will pay for it. If you are getting offers, it is hard to appraise, because the domain will be worth different amounts to different potential end users.

Thank you all very much for your opinions. I've been around long enough to understand that everyone has one, and I was really simply trying to get an idea of the value of what I have in this, having (yes) had it a very long time. I appreciate you all giving me something to really think on now!

Anybody who appraises this name for than less than $40-50k does not know what they are talking about.

This name WILL bring at LEAST mid XX,XXX. I would not be surprised to see it sell for 70k-90k+.

You have a winner with this name. Pugs are big business.

With a name like that the best way to get an appraisal i believe is putting it on ebay with a high reserve like 40,000 and watch the traffic and bidding, obviously if it reaches the 40k then nice one, it is a very good name. Ok it will cost you the listing fee but its money well spent i think.

I have done that with a few domains and it works well for me. I wish you all the best with it.

This domain is being severely undervalued in this thread, imho. What great potential this name has! I'm putting value of this name alone in the $40k+ range. I'd pay at least 7-10k for it as a reseller.

You are so right. I know what it is to be told "reg fee" and then sell it for several thousand. PUGS is worth a lot more money than 10,000 and if I were the blessed owner of such a name I would definitely not listen to anyone who says less. They most likely do not know the amazing popularity of this dog. Gosh I know of people who have sold a 4 letter domain for a lot more than 10,000 and it was nothing more than letters that you could not pronounce.
