Prototype / non-table design

Just as title says, these are just a prototype of a style I've been working on. I'm trying to see how well I can get this type of layout to work.

I choose anime as my theme for this layout.

The background on the right side of the girl in the image won't be there in the final version. It doesn't interfere with the layout and is there as a sort of "protection".

I have 3 different layouts for the same theme and each one has two style's a: for low content; b: for high content. The second is the same layout only that I added a second div to the end so there could be more content so after viewing 1b you can skip 2b and 3b if you wish.

I want opinion of the layout in general and the design. Also I would also like to find any bugs/compatibility issues there maybe. I used a PNG image with tranparencies and (of course) had to use a hack/workaround for internet explorer so let me know how that goes. I have tested it in firefox 1.0.3 (mozilla 5.0) and IE 6.whatever/recent (for me the loading was a little funky but I don't think it's too bad).

Yeah not too shocking but I think it came out pretty good. Sorry for all the variations but I just couldn't help it. I even have an idea for a fourth one but I haven't done it yet (luck you). To think I have about four more in mind (all with an anime theme), this makes me feel very exhausted. :zzz:

I like all the layouts( isn't so much diffirence between them though) but I think you should go for layout3a. By the way, nice logo!

Thanks! Yeah there are only minor changes between all three layouts but I just wanted to make sure that all of them worked well and look good.

The girl is 283KB, that's a little large for one graphic. Your going to have trouble trying to get the text to wrap around the image too.

Yeah the main image is quite big, I'm working on getting it down if possible but the text already wraps around the image (at least in the browsers I tested).

the image on all of them loads to slow, your waiting for ages while she loads but the rest of the site is really quick, bit wierd, need to down the quality a bit to make them load the same.
