Quite a few of you are taking advantage of this TLD's new price reduction and lifted restrictions. I've been working on a list of available names. Some of these are great fits for the extension. Some are not. As always, register at your own risk.

IMPORTANT: To all those considering registering these names at $50 each - please do not grab them just because you can. This is an extremely risky business to begin with, and then choosing a relatively unknown extension makes it even more of a risk. Especially you teenagers reading this - if you have $50 burning a hole in your pocket, you are better off looking for a nice bargain for sale in the forum, in a mainstream extension. We adults have more disposable income, and our lives are half over anyway ;), so we can risk more than you. Please consider your options carefully before spending your money.

Mind if I add my own goodies? :hehe:

contact.pro
showcase.pro
tips.pro
odds.pro
wager.pro
bets.pro
betting.pro
race.pro

As I said before, given the still relatively high $ cost of regs, it may be prudent to have backup development plans, instead of counting on a quick end-user sale, for these .pro domains.

The more the merrier. :)

Agreed 100%.

These look tasty, but that $50 a pop could make a person broke. Nobody should take food off the table for such a high risk venture. These are most valuable for developers.

Registrars quote:
At this time, .Pro is available exclusively for:
Medical doctors (.med.pro)
Attorneys (.law.pro)
Certified public accountants (.cpa.pro)

How much does a .Pro domain name cost?
$350 for one year, including a $100 non-refundable application fee.

I've seen it as low as $250/year but, Hah...this isn't even for a .PRO", but ".med.pro"

This is a rip off. Where do you see them for $50?

Here is another registrars quote:

Third-Level .Pro Registrations
Third-level .Pro domains include a professional designation label in the domain that defines the profession that applies to the registrant. There are currently four professions that are included in the .Pro name space- some of these include regional specific variations of the professional label:

• . eng.pro – for engineers
• .law.pro | .jur.pro | .bar.pro – for attorneys
• .med.pro – for physicians
• .cpa.pro | .aca.pro – for accountants
• .pro – available for anyone who has one or more of the above domains

Second-Level .Pro Registrations
If you have completed a third-level .Pro registration you now qualify for a second-level .Pro registration! An A/V check is NOT required for 2nd level domains.

Ony available at Encirca.com. And you can register second level there, for example cameras.pro instead of settling for third level like video.cameras.pro.

hmmm i still think that .pro won't take off at this rate...

I don't think you really Register the name either. Seems like they hold it and just Forward it for you.

I'm not even sure from my research that you can resell them. If you spent the money and built an awesome site on Lawyers.pro it seems they can come along when you try to sell it and go..."Hey! Your not a lawyer, were taking our domain back!"

You can forward to another domain if you wish but you can also put up your own site just like any other domain and use any host you wish. You can sell them and there is no charge to push them to someone else at Encirca. As long as they stay there Encirca provides the license clearance you need. Annual fees are still far more expensive than are warranted on a now open extension so I would have to dearly want a word/term to play myself. Right now there are 4 I am seriously considering but I don't know if I will jump.

Here is a good example of a site a friend of mine has already started work on www.women.pro Good idea for the project IMO.

I have jumped and got Cosmetics.pro,
but not really in confidence with this registration system...

I jumped too...Programmer.pro

I'm a Professional Programmer so why not programmer.pro?

Electrician.pro, Painter.pro, Pipefitter.pro are avaliable among a lot of others.

Might be worth it for professions like this...could take off. I got my lotto ticket.

Here's mine:

paintshop.pro - 33K OVT when searched with ext.

Amazingly - "paintshop" is not a TM.

How would you like to get spam from that? D-:

Ha!

Well, I tell ya Robert.....

The day that SPAM starts arriving in my inbox from either Jesus OR God - I will likely be signing off the web for a while to take a serious look at my life and the world around me.
