I recently have been given a web design job by my mom. It is a site that will showcase her book and talk about her experiances of going through cancer. I have designed a gif file and centered it. Please let me know what you think of the overall layout and what could be changed.

hi,
There's alot of purple , maybe put in a second color.
Overall looks like a clean simple template , not bad.
Once you are coding it , you might want to consider using rollovers for the links

I was thinking of doing an underline on mouseover. If there is too much purple then what do you sugguest for coloring?

THERES A LITTLE TOO MUCH PURPLE... blend some green or yellow into there

Yes ,try some yellow , not too much either , or it won't match.
Maybe change your font too.
And as rollovers , try those css rollovers

Where is the yellow or green going? The background color overall or where exactly do you think I should put it?
