Just read this and couldnt help but see the similarities between cold war russia news outlets reporting and todays American media outlets.

During the coldwar, the news agency "Pravda" (which means Truth) reported on a car race in Moscow.

"Today, the russian car came in second, while the American car came in second to last."

While, this on it's surface was true..the news agency neglected to say that there was only two cars in the race.
Sounds so much Like Media America 2005.

Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see.

Pravda used to mess people's minds during communism years. It never actually came even close to communism, it was more of a socialism. The newspaper "Pravda" used to write such things like that all the time, making people feel good about themselves by telling how much United States suck. If you walk outside in your sox to get a newspaper, and Pravda'd see that (just an example), they'd write something like "look at that poor guy, he doesn't even have shoes, because he can't pay for such things"

and so on.... it was awful.

Can you believe they have a cafepress store?

http://www.cafepress.com/cp/store.aspx?s=pravda

Check out the "made in the USA" on the spagetty tanktop - just scroll down a bit.

BTW, I read about 100 numbers of 'Pravda' and other soviet newspapers (got them from a friend who also helped me translate). And you can't blame them, they got their orders from the communist party, and even if the editors didn't want to 'distort' facts, they had to... if you'd have lived a few years under communism, you'd understand why.
