It still can be a Trademark issue. It doesn't matter when you registered it. If you do some research here and on Google, you will see that Trademarks have precedence over when a domain was registered.

Plus you were already quoting to use it for SEC purposes. It doesn't matter when a domain is registered. If you use it for the purpose of profiting from someone's TM it's still a violation.

The domain itself is not a violation, but using it for the purpose for which you intend is. You must get written consent to use it in that way.

Thats what I mean, they will not want the name as they have picked the shorter version

Secnetwork.com as been owned since 2004, it looks they gave used Sec.org as their domain and just recently moved to the .COM

In addition to what has been said before and regardless of the TM considerations, secsportsnetwork isn't a great domain at all. It's a bit clumsy to pronounce and spell, it sounds like "sex ports" and may be prone to typos.

That's why a shorter form like Secnetwork is preferred.
