Portable Web Sever?

Hi. At the moment I use Abyss Web Sever to test PHP files on my personal computer (without the intenet) and it works perfectlly. Now, tomorrow I am going down to Tamworth (UK) to do a presentation. I want to show some people a website (using php), but they don't have a webserver on their computer system. Is there anyway I can put a webserver on a portable HDD? Will just installing it onto the drive work?

I believe you need to instal it in the registry, too. So just putting needed files on a FLASH card won't work.

However, there are some overhead-type things that you can lug your laptop in to project the image you see on your monitor onto a wall or something. We have them at my school for MACs :zzz:

i had abyss on my laptop but that was before i had my desktop, it was good because people could just download things from my pc

surly they must have internet access? phone them up and see what you can do

they do have internet acces, but not on the laptop they use for presentations, but its ok now... I got them to do a bit of moving things around and I got a desktop connected to the internet for it!

there is 1 that can be used that does not make any changes to the registry and would work on portable drive.

I cant for the life of me remember its proper name (it is possibly uniserver but not 100% sure ive used a few programs like it) Take a look thru sourceforge as that is where it is developed.

I thought that the registry was just a program used by windows? Is it not part of windows?

Yes the registry is an integrall part of windows. Most programs that you install will add an entry into the registry (in fact most windows settings are also held there).

Everything that windows does has something to do with the registry

You could just put Appserv on it then uninstall it when you have finished

Yeah! Join their LAN or create one - just for that presentation - and make the files you want them to see shared!

join their lan with what? I don't have a laptop to take there! Anyway - tis all over now. I got them to move a desktop to the projector!
