I quite like the .me domain. It's short, it's a proper word and it speaks to the reader, it's about the reader.

I have registered one or two for my own use. Do you know of any popular sites that use .me?

I know of maps.me which is a very popular map app with millions of users.

The most established one I'm aware of is about.me
A good few of the major tech companies use this TLD for URL shortening on social media, or at least as a redirect to their .com (mac.me, fb.me, m.me, snapchat.me).

If you google search exactly the following:

site:.me

The result will show how pages are indexed in the .me extension, you can replace the ".me" with other TLD's and to compare each.

You can extend your search with more keywords and explore results eg.

site:.me maps

site:.co maps

I don't use a lot of .me sites but I'm aware of a few and maps.me is one of them.

I have had good success with .me in the past, selling one-word domains that match the extension like notate_me.

.me has been favored by some tech start-ups since it launched and is often used for it's personalized branding.

Yes, I did that before (search for site:.me) but it doesn't tell me if the sites are popular.

Interestingly, it returns 68 million results, that can't be right!

The first three are:

sketchfab.me
overlunch.me
goenglish.me

...none of which I have heard of.

Interestingly (again) they all redirect to a .com!

Alexa isn't very accurate, but you can download the list of the top 1 million sites and then search for .me

Some are redirects though, and some are spammy or really weird porn domains. (Some are porn even though the domain is not indicative...so..be careful if you don't want to see that)

There are 3743 in the top million list I have (I haven't updated mine in a while).

Have a look at Montenegro's most popular sites at Alexa http://www.alexa.com/topsites/countries/ME

busticket4.me ranks 25th in Montenegro, hardly a premium .me but clever enough.

Good info. I was wondering if people knew of popular .me sites from their own knowledge. Looking just now that these are the main ones:

about.me
maps.me
paypal.me
fb.me

Hugely interesting and encouraging to see PayPal and Facebook using them. fb.me simply redirects to facebook.com but paypal.me is a site in its own right.

This is from paypal.me:

"PayPal.Me is a fast, easy and more secure way for your friends, family or customers to pay you back"

I opened this thread because I'm thinking about using a .me domain for a venture and was wondering if it would look alien to people. Figured if there's some very popular .me sites out there, then it wouldn't look alien. If it's good enough for PayPal and Facebook...

The most popular .me domain I saw is fb.me, it's acquired by facebook in order to shorten their URLs and i'm using this currently fb.me/"myusername"
