I am curently in the sealed phase of the auction. Since this is my first backorder I need help on a few things.

1)If I bid 20% higher than the 2nd highest bidder in the sealed phase, do I win the name outright or do I have to go to second phase?

2) In the # of bids section does it show # of bids from others? Currently at Zero but I would like to see how much interest there is.

3) Does most of the action happen in the last minute of a sealed phase?

Thanks!!!!!!!

1) You go to the second phase, and your sealed bis is the starting point.

2) Number of bids from others will only show up in the second phase.

3) In sealed price phase there is no action
(cause nobody knows how high the other bids are).
Some more action in the second phase though.

PS:
I dont like Pool.com cause of this speciffic action system and their customer hostile support (You get mad once you have a problem with Pool or with a related registrar).
Unfortunately they have the highest backorder rates.

wow

So if I am not in the top 20% of bidders I will not go to second round? But if I am 20% higher than the next highest bidder the name still goes to 2nd phase but do other bidders go to the second round?

Correct you are out of the game.

If you are in top 20% you go to next round (2nd phase), where the real auction starts (All bidders inside 20% go in 2nd round).
In 2nd round you can see actual bids in quantity and values.

This is exactly why Pool system is so bad :'(

Example:
Lets suppose you backorder abcdefg.com with Pool.
In the "sealed bid" phase as you really want the name you offer 150$ to be shurely inside the 20%.

Now you pass to the second phase, and surprise ! you are the only bidder !
But now you pay the full 150$, where a initail 60$ would have done the same.

THE poolish 2 phase auction system is clearly designed to bring $$$$$$$ to Pool.com.

Unfortunately if Pool.com gets the name your only chance to get it is to Play the Poolish Game ;)

PS:
Here is another nice post regarding Pool that shows Pools determination to earn money on customers back.
