This post needs to be removed, I think its bogus, Oven i knew where you were going when you were asking your questions.(and got no answer should have let us know it was bogus) DNJournal would have been all over this, even when there is a ebay sale of such money they mention it as a sale but do not give it an official announcement until the name transfers. If I'm wrong and its a sale, then GREAT SALE, but to not answer some questions, and to post the way you did was childish....

And I find it ironic that your name is "Joker Productions".

He has good reasons not to answer my questions - he has every right not to, in the first place. Obviously, as he states, he is in agreement to withhold certain details until an event or the site goes live or something to that effect.

Ok im not sure what that means? Are you the only one i was speaking about? No, Can he defend himself? Are you related? RELAX... its :imho: , and as far as you finding it "IRONIC" my "name is Joker Productions" WHY? Its been my corporation Name since 2002 Las Vegas NV (you can check it), Im sure your not incorporated, Are you? You know what you don`t have to answer any of these questions, if you have an agreement to withhold.LOL :)
Plain and simple I DON`T believe this sale.

I don't understand such an immediate call to action, and even in that case - such a drastic demand as removing it? Why would we EVER do that?

With so many people participating in the thread, such a possible big sale, it's become a thing of public interest and record. Finding out the results is something that is of interest to many domainers, and this is a domain related topic.

I don't know whether the sale is real or not, but I'm watching with curiosity like anybody else. I think we should give member "quality" a break, and some time for details to be made known.

Even though I'm shocked to see a sub-domain like this be valued so high by anybody, I also find it difficult believing that he would be so bold or foolish to make up such a story from scratch, then post it on the forum proclaiming victory to a crowd full of people that are already skeptics.

Time will tell. Meanwhile, nobody should be losing any sleep over it.

Absolutely, well said all.....

We should be giving Quality a break here.

As said above, no-one in there right mind would concoct a bogus world record sale - knowing that announcing such news to an already sceptical audience would ensure a few checks be made.

And to then confirm the details as :

1. Already having the money in their bank prior to the finalisation of paperwork. D-:
2. That NO Escrow transfer was used in the deal. D-:
3. Continue to allow the domain to point to their parking page at sedo long after completion - and not even do a simple redirect to a poker site even as a smoke screen D-:
4. And saying the buyer made a direct approach to the seller despite the fact that obtaining accurate contact information for one of these sub domains is all but impossible. D-:

Says to me that this sale must be legit for not even the world's stupidest person would be stupid enough to make such comments knowing that they could easily be blown out of the water..

Imho, this whole deal is so far fetched, it has to be true...........

Doesnt it :-/ :? :-/

I hope it was a genuine sale, maybe soon there will be a developed Poker site up for all to see, personally, I do not find it hard to beleive that someone may of paid £15,000 for a sub domain with such a "quality" :) and potentially Lucrative keyword, after all IMO if they develop a great site with great content there is no reason why it could'nt rank high in search engines and be a very successful website.
IMO the "type in traffic" thing is again given more credit than it deserves.

It is also not "impossible" for this to be the highest price ever paid for a sub domain - after all, there's a first for everything right !

I think I read here somewhere that Rick Swartz would buy any other ext over a dot net ( or words to that effect) maybe he bought it :hehe:

While he is one of the first to "speculate to accumulate" with domain names he is now one of many thousands ! After all - is'nt that what domains are all about ?

I would hope this thread does not get deleted as there are valuable lessons in one form or another for all within this thread.

Sure hope this does not end up on page (where did i find this? ooh, page 6) page 12 where we forget about this. I was wondering since you have the money in the bank NOW for 3 weeks, why NO changes, still with Sedo, still no bids, whats the deal? Did you sell it or not?

After the web.com sale of $4.8 million I do hope that some people will now understand why I was not in a position to go into details concerning the sale of poker.web.com and that they will now accept the sale as a genuine post
and have the decency to apologise and understand that sometimes people are constrained by legal restrictions and perhaps understand why I have had to be careful on what I could post and do.

Thank you

what web.com sale do you refer to ? link ?

The sale of web.com ( the hosting business and the domain web.com) to Interland was announced publicly on November 30, 2005 a couple of weeks before this thread started. The sale of the business and web.com domain name was completed today. I hope quality will elaborate on what that means regarding poker.web.com.

That sale has nothing to do with your post, since you do answer some questions that you choose, can you answer why it has not been moved from sedo.com?

quality,
Now that the sale is completed, you can put the "controversy" to rest by just giving folks what they ask for: details.
I must admit that I am not as polite as -db-, and I am still quite the cynic (And will remain such until better/complete info is given).
