PITTSBURGH (AP) — A federal judge has ordered a Pittsburgh-area plumber accused of cybersquatting to stop using an Internet address that includes a competitor's name.
Tuesday's order leaves unresolved the question of whether Gillece Plumbing and Heating Inc. must eventually pay damages to Fagnelli Plumbing Co. for using the Web address www.fagnelli.com to direct business to Gillece's Web site. Fagnelli's real Web site is www.fagnelliplumbing.com.
Gillece's attorney hasn't commented on the ruling.
Fagnelli sued last year claiming Gillece had registered more than 180 domain names that are "identical or confusingly similar" to the names of Gillece's competitors. The suit claims that prevented the competitors from using those Web names and, in some instances, says Gillece used those names to direct customers to its Web site.
