I am creating a website for a client. The website is called www.GrandmasGrotto.com.

Im looking for some people to review the layout, not the content as there is none yet .

The overall layout isn't bad since it's going to be business centric, but you do need to improve the colors quite a bit.

Starting at the header; I like the picture of the ladies on the left side of the header. Now, I don't really see a good transition when going from the ladies, to the wine, to the food trays. It doesn't look well transitioning from no color to color...perhaps add a filter, or add color to the ladies. Now, please remember that the name in the header should be the most important feature and should therefore stand out more than anything in the header - this isn't quite what's happening here. The text is hard to read, and, I believe it's centered too far to the right. Play with the colors around here, and make it more visible and easier to read. Just a note: You seem to have it behind a black layer with low transparency - perhaps bringing it above that layer would help?

In the navigation column, you might want to center the word navigation. A darker color would also suffice for the navigation links.

The main content color isn't bad, but you're going to have to use some good color on the text that's above it so that it isn't hard to read.

The main thing that jumps out is that it is hard to read the logo header because the letter are almost the exact same color as the background. Honestly, once you fix that it should look pretty nice.

Very rustic header. The ladies transport the good ol' way of cooking straight onto my laptop screen. Now, make the banner a bit larger and change the colors a bit, especially on the font - you're too uneventful.
Italian kitchen is usually a very flavored, rich with spices and colors experience, transport this through the intensity of the colors and font in your header.
The nav bar can easily be driven by images and not through text. Roll over flash would help with getting some animation and life on the site.

The frame itself is compact and comes up quickly, which is exactly what's needed. The gallery is great, give users the option to magnify the images though. The menu is a sweet idea, just needs to be pulled into photoshop and get sharpened up a bit, it's showing blurry at this time.

Overall, i think you're well on the way to get a VERY decent site together.
