I think this is a very clean design. It might actually be a little too clean, though. I think there is too much white space on this site and I thought the menu was going to be one of those DHTML expanding menus with subcategories.

Add some more graphics to really make the site have appeal. Good start!

I am thinking it looks pretty darn good right now, but the header could use some light color to to get rid of the white

Cool, let us know when you have those changes up. I really hope you're going to add a "pop-up" DHTML menu.

Great layout, but there's something missing here. Maybe it's that first impression people get when they first open your homepage.

My minds dialog:

At first I thought maybe you sold real-estate (my eyes went to the images of the houses first), then I thought โ€œis this site about discount prescriptionsโ€ (the first thing I read was โ€œYour Prescription for Savingsโ€ line). At this point I was confused so I read โ€œThank you for choosing PaymentDoctor.com for your finance and insurance needs.โ€ So now Iโ€™m thinking youโ€™re a finance company?

Well, not sure if this is what I was looking for, back to Google!

Karen,

I need to get different perspectives that is why I have chosen to have my site reviewed here.

I think that the name is rather self explainitory coupled with the prominant, clean easy to read navigation. Maybe I need to put a scrolling marquee saying " Don't you want to lower your payments?"

Any and all comments welcome. Thanks to all who have contributed.

Karen thinks, "Lower my payments on what?"

Don't assume your visitors know anything about anything. Make sure you fill in the details and don't leave anything to chance.

This might work better: "Do you want to lower your loan and insurance payments?"

Karen,

Seeing as though you are a "Professional Website Designer/Redesigner" What would your suggestion be that I do to capture my visitor?

I know that you probably don't want to be giving away free advice but I think once you start to partake in these forums it is obligitory.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks Kevin

Kevin,

Being a "Professional Website Designer/Redesigner" doesn't make me an expert on marketing. It would take more than one person to be a full service web design firm, of which I am not. My focus is primarily on the content and design layout, navigation, usability, and graphics of my clientsโ€™ website. My advice to clients would be to seek a marketing professional as well as a copywriter.

Secondly, I am here to help, so "giving away free advice" is not really an issue for me. With that saidโ€ฆ

I would recommend that you read a few books on internet marketing to get a better idea what works and what doesn't. The internet is a different ball game when it comes to marketing and there are several differences between it and more traditional marketing methods. The more you learn about this, the more you'll be able to position yourself on the web.

Here is a list of some books I have found to be very helpful:

Designing and Writing Online Documentation, by William Horton

101 Internet Marketing Tips for Your Business, by Jeff Davidson

Getting Business to Come to You, by Paul and Sarah Edwards, Laura Clampitt Douglas and Laura Clampitt

Search Engine Visibility by Shari Thurow

Net Words by Nick Usborne

I know it looks like a lot to have to read and it will be even more work trying to apply the information to your line of work, but in the long run it will pay off. I wish I could just pass this knowledge on to you, but like I said, Iโ€™m not a marketing expert. I read these books with my business in mind and you will find that you may get something entirely different out of them than I did.

I wish you the very best of luck and please let me know if there is anything more I can do for you.

No problem Kevin, you really made me think about things too, which is good. I tried to keep the book list as short as possible and ended up cutting out a few, but all in all, it's a good list. A great way to save money on books is to buy them used online too. I do a bit of amazon shopping and have always been please with my purchased and the discounts.
