the site is definitely ad dominant and doesn't offer enough content to keep a user for a longer period of time. Some of it may have something to do with the relatively flat color scheme and limited images.
Generally, add more content, get some better colors going and play with images, videos and finally, ad a logo and favicon.

As Mike says but not bad site i have seen hundreds worse.. The thing youve got to remember is what will keep the visitors attension!! so try and make the site more atractive not too in your face but pleasing to look at and as Mike says the use of a good colour scheme can help along way with that.

Mixing ads with text is used a lot in websites but the smart visitor tend to suss on to that so i always dedicate a section for ads and make them relevant to the page.
